Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou

Yukino Miyazawa has built her entire identity around being admired. At school she is elegant, brilliant, athletic, and endlessly helpful; at home she is competitive, vain, and exhausted from maintaining the performance. Her greatest irritation is Souichirou Arima, the equally accomplished classmate who keeps stealing the attention she believes belongs to her.

Then Arima accidentally sees the real Yukino and gains the perfect weapon against her carefully constructed image. What begins with rivalry and an embarrassing bit of leverage forces the two model students to spend time together, where Yukino discovers that Arima's perfection hides wounds of its own. As their masks come off, competition gives way to intimacy, and both must learn whether they can be loved without performing for it.
