Takumi Fujiwara has spent years driving his father's aging Toyota AE86 over Mount Akina before sunrise to deliver tofu. He has little interest in cars and sees the route as a tiresome chore, unaware that repeating it under strict conditions has quietly given him extraordinary control behind the wheel.

When Keisuke Takahashi of the Akagi RedSuns is unexpectedly overtaken on Akina by a mysterious AE86, local racers become obsessed with finding its driver. Takumi is gradually pulled into the world of mountain racing, where natural skill is no longer enough: every opponent forces him to understand the technique, pressure, and competitive instinct he never knew he possessed.
