Gendai Goyaku

Famous words left by thinkers, leaders, and historical figures reach the present day, but they do not always arrive intact. Twisted into modern "mistranslations," the quotations are dropped into everyday situations that have little to do with their original meaning, producing conclusions as funny as they are incorrect.

After every possible misunderstanding has been exhausted, the real quotation and its meaning come into view. The contrast reveals the difference between wisdom that survived across time and a phrase reshaped by the present for convenience, turning the mistake itself into a way of discovering what those people actually said and why their words endured.
