Xiao Se leaves the heavenly mountain with his hidden meridians restored and his strength reclaimed, while Lei Wujie and their companions have received opportunities that raise their own abilities to new levels. Their road no longer leads to another wandering adventure through the martial world. It leads to Tianqi City, where a political battle can be just as deadly as any sword.

Three major forces gather around the succession: Xiao Se, King of Yong'an; Xiao Chong, the White King; and Xiao Yu, the Red King. Old companions reunite inside the imperial court, but every move is now measured against the struggle for the throne.
