Mizuki Shigeru no Youkai Ehon: Shokoku Manyuu-hen

Salaryman Yamada sets out across Japan in search of the strange beings hidden inside regional folklore. His journey introduces him to yōkai whose names and habits have been passed down in different parts of the country, from creatures that haunt ceilings or appear with the weather to spirits tied to rivers, stones, and old mountain customs.

Each stop turns an ordinary landscape into a doorway to another layer of Japan, where local stories explain why a particular monster is feared, remembered, or sometimes even treated with affection.
