Sugar Apple Fairy Tale

In the Kingdom of Highland, humans can enslave fairies by taking one of their wings; whoever possesses the wing effectively holds the fairy's life. Anne Halford despises that system and dreams of a relationship in which humans and fairies stand as equals, but she still needs protection for the dangerous journey to the capital, where she hopes to earn the title of Silver Sugar Master like her late mother. She hires the sharp-tongued warrior fairy Shall Fen Shall and promises to return his wing once they arrive, though he has little reason to believe a human would surrender that kind of control. Along the road, Anne's sugar artistry carries her dream forward while Shall tests whether a human can truly see a fairy as more than property.
