When a severe fever strikes ten-year-old Pia Rockwell, she remembers being a Japanese graduate student studying paleontology and realizes that her current life belongs to an otome game where she is destined to become an exiled villainess. She has no interest in winning over the game's heroes. Pia wants to become a commoner, excavate fossils, build a museum, and spend her life as its curator. To avoid the graduation-ball disaster she remembers, she asks her fiancé Rufus, the prime minister's son, to end their engagement early. Rufus is far too shrewd to accept her calculations at face value, however, and turns her fear of the future into a wager that may create a path she never expected.
