Tonari no Youkai-san

In the town of Engamori, humans, yokai, and gods have lived together for so long that supernatural neighbors are simply part of ordinary life. Transformation is less ordinary for the one experiencing it: after 20 years with his human family, the cat Buchio suddenly becomes a nekomata and gains powers he does not understand. Happy that he can remain with his family yet unsettled by his new identity, he begins searching for the reason behind the change.

At the same time, young Mutsumi grows increasingly attached to Jirou, the tengu who has long watched over her family, while the absence of her father leaves a loss she cannot ignore. Small stories of grief, affection, and community overlap in a town where the extraordinary is woven gently into everyday life.
