Three very different Kyoto police officers chase the same criminal; city protectors leave ordinary life behind the moment they put on a uniform; and a young man named Leo rediscovers the one thing that once made life meaningful. Far away, an elderly survivor on another planet begins one final journey home after thirty years of searching in vain for anyone else left alive.

Elsewhere, a plain rice ball searches for what makes it special, a woman exhausted by Tokyo returns to her hometown and rediscovers traces of summer inside herself, and a giant robot breaches the barrier of a city on a red planet. Seven very different lives explore fear, duty, loneliness, and the small reasons people find to keep moving.
