Ranbi Wa

Ranbiwa, a young monkey raised among humans, grows up hearing of the sacred mountain his mother Awubaji once sought in search of the secret of warmth. Determined to follow her path, he enters a journey through hunger, cold, and danger in a prehistoric world with little mercy for the weak.

At the end of the road he obtains a fire stone, but bringing warmth back to his people changes him forever. His fur burns away and he emerges from the ordeal as a human, carrying fire with him as if the journey were not only the theft of a flame, but the birth of someone willing to suffer so others can live.
