Takato Saijou and Junta Azumaya are cast together in a two-person stage production of Blood Wedding, where their roles demand an intense flamenco performance. Takato immediately realizes that Junta has a natural advantage through his Spanish heritage, while he has never danced flamenco at all. Refusing to be outshone, Takato travels to southern Spain to learn the emotion and technique behind the dance firsthand. There he meets Ceres, an accomplished older dancer willing to guide him, but Junta soon follows with unresolved feelings of his own. Between rehearsals, family connections, and memories of a painful separation, Spain becomes more than preparation for a role. Takato and Junta must confront the parts of their relationship that competition and desire have allowed them to avoid.
