Planetarium Chibi Maruko-chan: Minamijuujisei ni Miserarete

Maruko befriends Jim, a boy visiting from Australia whose love of astronomy quickly becomes contagious. He tells her about the Southern Cross: a constellation that appears in Night on the Galactic Railroad and once guided sailors across oceans when maps could not show them the way.

The more Maruko learns, the more desperately she wants to see it for herself, only to discover that the Southern Cross cannot normally be seen from Japan. With Tama-chan beside her, her fascination carries her through a star-filled journey of imagination, while Jim's approaching departure gives the night sky a new and bittersweet meaning.
