Kaga returns to racing with Aoi after the team's suspension over the Al-Zard affair, only to find budget cuts have left him with an outdated car. Nagumo offers an alternative: Ogre, a formidable machine whose testing has already claimed two drivers' lives. Kaga accepts the danger for a chance to challenge Hayato.

But this rivalry reaches beyond championship points. Hayato's mastery of the Zero Realm recalls the friend Kaga lost to its dangers, making their contest inseparable from his unresolved past. To meet Hayato on equal terms, Kaga must understand Ogre rather than simply force it to obey.
