Duke Fleed is a survivor of Planet Fleed, driven from his home after the forces of Vega ravaged it. Living as a fugitive on Earth, he cannot escape the war that destroyed his world, especially when the Vega forces pursue him across space.

The conflict is made more painful by Duke Fleed's past connection to the daughter of Vega's ruler, whose feelings for him stand against the ambitions of her own people. When the enemy reaches Earth, Duke Fleed must rise once more in his flying machine and fight to keep another world from suffering the fate of his homeland.
