Ichigo Momomiya begins high school thinking far more about romance than saving the world, especially after meeting Masaya Aoyama and quickly developing a crush on him. Their date is interrupted by a strange incident that merges her DNA with traits from the endangered Iriomote cat, giving her the power to transform into a fighter. Ryou Shirogane and Keiichiro Akasaka reveal that she has become part of the Mew Project and must find four other girls carrying the abilities of rare animals.
