Dragon Quest Retsuden: Roto no Monshou

Seven years after being carried to safety from the fallen kingdom of Carmen, young Arus has grown into a shy boy unaware of the full weight of the blood he inherited from the legendary hero Roto. Mocked by other children, he follows the bold Kira into the forest to prove he is not a coward.

The challenge leads Arus to a hidden fairy village threatened by a giant man-eating plant. When Kira is captured by the creature, Arus takes up the sword passed down through his family and fights to save him.
