Kaguya-hime no Monogatari

An elderly bamboo cutter discovers a tiny infant inside a glowing stalk and brings her home to be raised with his wife as their daughter. The child, named Kaguya, grows with unnatural speed in the countryside, spending a joyful childhood among the hills and the children she loves.

When her father begins finding gold and fine clothes inside the bamboo, he becomes convinced that Heaven intends Kaguya to live as a true princess. The family moves to the capital, where courtly manners, status, and marriage expectations replace the freedom she never wanted to lose. As noble suitors gather and her old life slips further away, strange memories begin revealing that Kaguya's time on Earth may be temporary, and that the luxury surrounding her could cost her everything that once made life worth loving.
