Vinland Saga

Thorfinn grows up in Iceland listening to sailors describe Vinland, a warm distant land where people would not need war. The murder of his father Thors by mercenary leader Askeladd turns his life into the opposite of that dream. Thorfinn remains with his father's killer for years, fighting in the Danish wars against England only so he can repeatedly earn the right to challenge Askeladd and take revenge with his own hands. As the war shifts and princes struggle over the English crown, the boy becomes part of a political conflict far larger than his personal grudge. He remembers his father's words about having no enemies, yet lives each day as though violence is the only language left to him.
