Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters

Smartphone apps are part of everyday life, but hidden inside them are living digital beings called Appmon. Each one embodies the function of an app and can think for itself. When the powerful artificial intelligence Leviathan begins spreading a virus through the network, it starts turning Appmon into tools for taking control of human systems.

Middle schooler Haru Shinkai receives an Appli Drive and meets Gatchmon, an Appmon born from a search application. Together with other children and their partners, Haru enters the space between the real and digital worlds to stop infected Appmon, uncover Leviathan's plan, and decide what kind of relationship humans should have with increasingly intelligent technology.
