Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199: Tsuioku no Koukai

In 2199, Earth is dying under relentless bombardment from the interstellar empire of Gamilas. With humanity facing extinction within a year, the battleship Yamato departs on a desperate 168,000-light-year voyage to Iscandar, where a device capable of restoring the poisoned planet is said to await.

Seen through Susumu Kodai's journey, the crew crosses hostile space, survives repeated Gamilas attacks, and carries the hopes of an entire world toward a destination none can guarantee they will reach. Every loss and victory aboard Yamato brings humanity closer to either salvation or its final end.
