Mako Satou and Sayuki, the famous Impact Blue duo of Mount Usui, are challenged by the Emperor team after its Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions sweep through Gunma's street-racing scene. Mako's concentration, however, is shaken by personal doubts just as she prepares to defend the pass where she and Sayuki have built their reputation.

Later, Sayuki tries to improve Mako's love life by introducing her to Miyahara of the Myogi NightKids. The relationship offers Mako a future away from racing, but it also forces her to confront what she truly wants when romance begins to compete with her ambition of becoming a professional driver.
