Ensemble Stars!! Tsuioku Selection Checkmate

Before Knights became the unit known in the present, Leo Tsukinaga and Izumi Sena were two students trying to find a place in an academy whose rules were changing around them. They reshape their unit under a new name, joined by Ritsu Sakuma and Arashi Narukami as artistic competition hardens into something far more ruthless.

Leo's gift for composing attracts admiration and exploitation in equal measure, while Izumi watches his friend wear himself down trying to answer everyone's demands. As Eichi Tenshouin moves units like pieces in his own revolution, the contest approaches a checkmate that will leave a lasting wound on Leo and on the bond that defines Knights' future.
