Mafuyu Sato carries a guitar he cannot play and cannot easily explain why he refuses to let go of it. When he meets Ritsuka Uenoyama on a school stairway and asks him to repair the strings and teach him, Ritsuka reluctantly brings him into the orbit of his band. Then he hears Mafuyu sing and realizes that the quiet boy is carrying emotions ordinary conversation cannot contain. Mafuyu joins Ritsuka, Haruki, and Akihiko, and music becomes the place where each of them confronts love, grief, and memories they have avoided. As their first performance together approaches, Mafuyu must turn everything he has been unable to say into a song.
