K-On!

Yui Hirasawa enters high school with no idea which club to join, and when she sees a poster for the Light Music Club, she imagines something simple enough for a girl who cannot play an instrument. She learns too late that the club needs actual musicians and that Ritsu, Mio, and Tsumugi require a fourth member to avoid being disbanded. After hearing them perform, Yui decides to stay and begins learning guitar from the very beginning.

Practice certainly happens, but tea, cake, conversation, and trips consume just as much time. As school performances approach, four girls who originally gathered simply to keep a club alive gradually become a band and friends far more important than anything Yui had planned for her high school years.
