Mahoromatic: Automatic Maiden

Mahoro Andou is Vesper's most powerful combat android, built to defend Earth from alien invaders. Her body, however, has reached its limit: continuing to fight will leave her with roughly a month of operation, while retirement can extend her remaining life to a little over a year. Mahoro chooses to lay down her weapons and spend that time freely, becoming the maid of Suguru Misato, an orphaned high school boy living alone in a large and thoroughly messy house.

Mahoro fills the home with cooking, cleaning, and an energy Suguru has long been missing, gradually becoming close to him and his friends. For the first time, her days begin to feel ordinary. Yet the countdown inside her never stops, and choosing Suguru was not entirely a coincidence. Vesper's past is tied more closely to his family than he realizes, giving every peaceful moment between them greater weight because Mahoro knows exactly how few of them she has left.
