Akira (Shin Anime)

After a mysterious explosion destroys Tokyo, Neo-Tokyo rises from the ruins as a city shaped by military power and social unrest. Kaneda leads a motorcycle gang through its violent streets until his friend Tetsuo is caught in an accident that places him inside a secret government program studying psychic abilities far beyond ordinary human control.

Tetsuo's power grows rapidly along with his anger and insecurity, while Kaneda tries to reach him before the military can use him or the abilities destroy him. At the center of everything is the name Akira, a child connected to the catastrophe that erased old Tokyo. As the history of the experiments comes to light, the entire city risks suffering the same destruction again.
