Look Back

Fourth-grader Fujino enjoys the attention earned by the four-panel manga she draws for the school newspaper. Then the paper begins publishing work by Kyomoto, a reclusive student who rarely comes to school, and Fujino's loose cartoons suddenly look painfully ordinary beside Kyomoto's detailed art. Wounded pride turns into obsession as Fujino devotes herself to drawing, determined to surpass a rival she has never even met.

Years of comparison eventually exhaust her, and Fujino gives up manga altogether. That changes when she is asked to deliver Kyomoto's graduation certificate. The girl Fujino expected to meet as an intimidating competitor is instead her biggest fan. Their first encounter begins a friendship built through drawing, and the pages they create together become tied to ambition, choice, and the kind of regret that cannot simply be erased and redrawn.
