Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai

A withdrawn boy lives among his books, convinced that other people have no interest in him and seeing little reason to care about them in return. His routine changes when he finds a handwritten book titled Living with Dying and realizes it is the private diary of Sakura Yamauchi, a cheerful, popular classmate secretly living with a terminal pancreatic disease.

Sakura knows he has discovered her secret, yet rather than avoid him she chooses him as a companion for the time she has left, perhaps because he is the only person who does not treat her like someone already dying. He reluctantly joins her on small outings and wishes, and each day her openness chips away at the distance he built around himself. A relationship that begins with a secret about death becomes a painful lesson in what it means to live and let another person matter.
