Kekkon suru tte, Hontou desu ka

Takuya Oohara and Rika Honjouji are quiet coworkers at a Tokyo travel agency, each perfectly satisfied with a single life that leaves them plenty of private space. That peace is threatened when the company announces that an unmarried employee will be transferred to a new branch in Alaska.

A chance conversation reveals that both fear the transfer for much the same reasons, so Rika proposes a solution that seems simple on paper: pretend to be engaged for one year and remove their names from consideration. The plan begins with schedules and a carefully agreed story, but convincing coworkers and relatives requires them to spend real time together. The better they become at playing a future married couple, the harder it becomes to tell where the performance ends and a life neither expected to want begins.
