Colorful (Movie)

An unnamed soul reaches the afterlife carrying a grave sin from its previous existence and is offered one final chance to remember it and reenter the cycle of reincarnation. The soul is placed inside the body of Makoto Kobayashi, a fourteen-year-old boy who died after attempting suicide, and given six months to understand what drove him there.

Returning to Makoto’s family, school, and strained relationships initially reveals a life full of disappointment. But every person contains more than one color, and the soul gradually learns that hurt, selfishness, kindness, and love can exist together. Understanding Makoto may ultimately require learning why a life cannot be judged by its darkest moment.
