Uchouten Kazoku

Most humans in Kyoto have no idea that tanuki and tengu share the city with them. Yasaburou Shimogamo, the third son of a respected tanuki family, prefers pranks, wandering, and shapeshifting to serious responsibility. Yet he cannot escape the memory of his father, a former leader of tanuki society who was captured and eaten by the mysterious Friday Fellows. Between his brothers, the old tengu Professor Akadama, and the unpredictable Benten, Yasaburou slowly gets closer to understanding what really happened. Beneath his carefree life lies a painful question about how his family can survive in a city where tanuki may be neighbors one day and dinner the next.
