Aru Majo ga Shinu Made

On her seventeenth birthday, apprentice witch Meg Raspberry receives news that overturns her life: a curse she was born with will kill her in one year. Her mentor Faust says there is a cure, but creating the required Seed of Life demands one thousand genuine tears of joy.

Meg sets out expecting an almost impossible collection task and quickly learns that making someone truly happy is very different from producing a brief smile. Everyone she meets carries grief, regret, or a wish invisible from the outside, and helping them forces Meg to confront the value of her own limited time. As the deadline approaches, her fight to survive becomes a lesson in the connections that make life worth saving.
