Ruri no Houseki

Ruri Tanigawa loves jewelry and anything that sparkles, but the price of a crystal necklace gives her a different idea: perhaps she can find something beautiful herself. Her mother's stories about places where Ruri's grandfather once collected minerals send her into the mountains, where she meets Nagi Arato, a graduate student studying mineralogy.

What begins as a search for material to make an accessory quickly becomes genuine scientific curiosity. Quartz formations, garnet, gold sand, rivers, caves, maps, and collecting tools all reveal that every specimen has a history hidden inside it. With Nagi guiding her, Ruri starts to see minerals not merely as valuable objects, but as evidence of how the Earth was formed and a kind of treasure hunting anyone patient enough can learn to read.
