Koi to Uso

In a Japan determined to reverse its declining birthrate, marriage is no longer left to chance. At sixteen, every young person receives a government-selected partner calculated to be their ideal match, and rejecting that assignment can carry serious consequences. Yukari Nejima, who considers himself average in every possible way, expects simply to accept whatever life chooses for him.

Before his notice arrives, however, he finally confesses to his longtime crush Misaki Takasaki and learns that she loves him too. The government then names Ririna Sanada as his future wife. Instead of demanding that Yukari forget Misaki, Ririna becomes fascinated by the forbidden romance and encourages them to understand their feelings. The three are drawn into a relationship that no compatibility algorithm can reduce to a clean answer about which love is genuine and which promise should matter.
