Hi no Tori: Hagoromo-hen

Zuku, an abandoned child who survived by becoming a bandit, encounters a mysterious young woman on a pine-covered shore after stealing the shimmering robe that lies beside her. She remembers almost nothing about herself, but knows that the garment is precious and begs him to return it.

Zuku refuses, yet the two remain bound together and gradually find comfort in one another's loneliness. What began with theft and cruelty becomes a fragile relationship capable of changing a hardened man, even as the supernatural truth behind the woman's robe draws their time together toward an uncertain end.
