On his way to Bulma's birthday in West City, Goku discovers that city streets demand a different kind of awareness than the wilderness he knows. Encounters with careless drivers and pedestrians lead him, Krillin, Master Roshi, and their friends through lessons about crossings, traffic signals, and staying safe around vehicles.

Elsewhere, Goku and the others serve as volunteer firefighters. When children playing with fireworks start a dangerous blaze and another home catches fire, the group demonstrates how easily accidents can begin and why careful handling of fire can prevent disaster.
