With the palace curse behind them, Reirin and Keigetsu have begun to understand one another, and the hostility between them has given way to a tentative friendship. When the Harvest Festival is assigned to the southern lands of the Shu clan, Keigetsu must shoulder the responsibility of hosting it without a consort to support her. Reirin eagerly stands at her side, thrilled by the chance to leave the palace for the first time.

The journey turns dangerous almost as soon as they arrive. An unexpected incident halts the ceremony, Keigetsu's magic runs out of control, and the two girls find themselves in each other's bodies once again. Before they can recover from the chaos, Reirin—now in Keigetsu's body—is abducted. Her fiercely protective brothers become entangled in the crisis as a new plot closes in around Keigetsu, forcing the pair to face an enemy far beyond the palace walls.
