Shinobu Oomiya once spent time with a host family in England, where she formed a close friendship with Alice Cartelet even though neither girl could properly speak the other’s language. Five years later, Shinobu receives a letter announcing that Alice is coming to Japan, enrolling at her school, and living in her home. The two friends reunite and are soon joined by Youko, Aya, and Karen, another girl from Britain. School days, visits, and constant cultural misunderstandings turn differences in language and customs into sources of curiosity and comedy. Their friendship keeps proving that what connects the girls matters far more than the words they struggled to say when they first met.
