Kazuki Tsukigase is running from a secret he does not want anyone to know, so he enrolls at a high school on a remote island where he expects to begin again among strangers. The island has an inlet rumored to make people disappear, and one early-summer day Kazuki finds an unconscious sixteen-year-old girl there.

She wakes at the clinic and gives her name as Nanao, but nothing in the present explains who she is, and the one detail she keeps repeating is “1974.” The more Kazuki tries to help her return to where she belongs, the more he suspects that the distance separating them is not geographical at all, but half a century of time.
