Black Jack: Obaa-chan

Black Jack encounters an elderly woman whose family sees only her relentless demands for money. Her son and daughter-in-law have grown resentful, convinced that her behavior is selfish and greedy, and their home has become a place of constant arguments.

The truth is very different. Decades earlier, the woman borrowed an enormous sum to pay the doctor who saved her son’s life, and she has spent much of her own life repaying that debt in silence. When Black Jack reveals what her son never knew, the family is forced to measure years of frustration against a mother’s decision to value her child’s life above everything she possessed.
