Alps no Shoujo Heidi: Alm no Yama-hen

Young orphan Heidi is brought high into the Swiss Alps to live with her reclusive grandfather, a man the villagers fear and distrust. The mountain life that seems harsh at first becomes a source of freedom for Heidi as she befriends goatherd Peter, runs across the meadows, and gradually melts the old man's guarded heart.

Seasons pass among the goats, snow, and open sky, giving Heidi a home she comes to love deeply. But the peaceful life on the Alm is threatened when the outside world decides there are other plans for her future, forcing the child to face the possibility of leaving the mountains and the grandfather who has become her family.
