Kidou Senshi Gundam I

In Universal Century 0079, the Principality of Zeon declares independence from the Earth Federation and gains a terrifying advantage through mobile suits. The war reaches the peaceful colony Side 7 when Char Aznable's forces discover a Federation prototype called Gundam and launch an attack.

Amuro Ray, the teenage son of the Gundam's developer, climbs into the machine and manages to fight back despite having no combat experience. Forced to flee aboard White Base with other civilians and Federation personnel, Amuro is drawn into a war he never chose, with the masked Red Comet Char becoming an increasingly personal enemy.
