High school athlete Yamato Hino begins hearing the desperate calls of a mysterious young woman from another world. A supernatural force eventually carries him from modern Tokyo to the ancient kingdom of Mu, where Queen Aira's people are being crushed by the dinosaur armies of the Dragonian Empire.

Mu's last hope is the enormous stone guardian God Mazinger. When Yamato merges with the giant, the silent statue awakens as a living weapon capable of repelling the invaders. Stranded in an unfamiliar age, Yamato must learn to fight with purpose and mature beyond his reckless nature if he hopes to protect Mu and ever find a way home.
