Lua Restoatt possesses the gift of healing, but her power carries a cruel price: every wound she removes from another person is transferred to her own body. Others mock her as the “Broken Saintess,” while her friend Arianne appears to be the one person who always stands beside her.

After Lua nearly sacrifices her life to save Commander Garrett, she awakens to discover Arianne's betrayal and the theft of everything she believed was secure. The shock reveals another side of Lua's ability—one that can return pain instead of absorbing it. A girl who once accepted every injury in silence begins a new path to reclaim her dignity and expose those who used her.
