Ningen Shikkaku: Director's Cut-ban

Yozo Oba has always felt separated from the people around him, unable to understand the rules and emotions that seem natural to everyone else. To conceal that fear, he learns to perform the role of a cheerful fool, making others laugh while hiding a profound conviction that he does not belong among them.

As Yozo grows older, the mask becomes harder to maintain. Failed relationships, alcohol, drugs, and repeated attempts to escape himself drag him deeper into despair, until the line between the person he pretends to be and the person he believes he has lost almost disappears entirely.
