True Tears

Shinichiro Nakagami dreams of becoming a picture-book artist, but his home life is complicated by Hiromi Yuasa, a quiet classmate taken in by his family after her parents' deaths. Though Shinichiro cares for her, Hiromi hides her emotions so thoroughly that living under the same roof only deepens the distance between them.

At school he meets the eccentric Noe Isurugi, who claims she has given away her tears and asks him to help recover them. As friendships turn into painful affection, Shinichiro must face the feelings he has avoided and learn that sincerity can wound people even when it is necessary.
