Rein Garland is an enhancement mage who spent years strengthening equipment for the Fangs of the Royal Beast, one of the continent's great guilds. When his companions abruptly expel him because their gear is already powerful enough, Rein takes back the enhancement points he poured into their equipment rather than leave his work to people who discarded him.

He casually places that power into a cheap copper sword and watches it become a weapon on the level of a legend. Rein realizes his magic is far less limited than anyone understood and can strengthen far more than valuable equipment. With little combat experience but an ability that breaks the rules of adventuring, he starts a new life and meets companions who recognize the worth his old guild ignored.
