Made in Abyss

At the center of Orth lies the Abyss, an enormous chasm descending into unknown depths and filled with relics of an ancient civilization and creatures found nowhere else. The deeper Cave Raiders travel, the more valuable the discoveries become, but climbing back upward triggers a Curse that can cause pain, loss of senses, or far worse consequences.

Riko, daughter of the legendary White Whistle Lyza, dreams of reaching the bottom and learning her mother's fate. When she finds a humanoid robot boy she names Reg and later receives a message from below, she chooses to begin a journey from which there may be no return. Every layer reveals a world more beautiful and more terrifying, until the question becomes not only what waits at the bottom but what will remain of Riko and Reg when they reach it.
