Kkokdu

After his grandmother's death, eleven-year-old Jacob clings to the memory of their final moments together and searches for the kokdu dolls connected in his mind with that farewell. His search accidentally carries him into the world of the dolls themselves, wooden figures that once accompanied the dead on their final journey in Joseon funeral tradition.

Among guardians, guides, servants, and clowns created to keep the departed from traveling alone, Jacob confronts his grief in a way he could not in his own world. What begins as an attempt to hold on to his grandmother becomes a chance to understand that saying goodbye does not erase the people we love, and that death can be both the end of one meeting and the beginning of another journey.
