A year after Menma finally said goodbye, Jintan, Anaru, Yukiatsu, Tsuruko, and Poppo gather again at the old Super Peace Busters hideout. This time, each carries a letter addressed to the friend they lost.

As they struggle to put their feelings into words, memories of childhood and the painful summer that reunited them return from each person's point of view. Sending their letters to Menma becomes a way to answer the messages she once left for them and to measure how much their lives have changed since learning to let her go.
